So much for my happy ending?

Two people fall in love. Two people fight. The situation thus created is so intense that over a period of time they decide never to speak to each other again. And they don't. Years later, they've lost all contact and somehow, fate plays a little game and they meet. Older, wiser and with this long history behind them. She hasn't been with anyone since. He has been with a few women, but somehow it just never worked out. He never loved them. They both exchange phone numbers, email addresses. They meet for drinks at a club. Catch up on each other's lives. Subtle on the surface but ecstatic within. They're both bursting at the seems with feelings that never really subsided but were supressed. And after a really long time, they finally feel happy. They get back to being in love, I won't say fall into love again because they never really fell out  of it. they're together and they're happy and they get married and have kids and live happily ever after, holding onto each other and supporting each other and loving each other. This would be the typical ending. The fairytale happy ending.
I don't believe on happy endings. And when I see us reuniting, I see us fighting. Blaming each other. Saying more hurtful words than those which have already been said. Cutting open that wound, sprinkling salt on it, and walking away, again. I'm not a cynic. I'd like to believe I'm a realist. We both have our theories and we refuse to budge. Accusations fly. Killing us both a little inside. All of them true. No happy ending. We lead miserable lives, revolving around anything that could keep our mind off of what is really bothering us. And so we don't get married or have children or live happily ever after. We fight, waste the time we have together. Go our separate ways and refuse to acknowledge what we have. Had.
