It is common knowledge to all of mankind that the only truth that one knows for sure to be true, is that everything must end. As we are from dust, we must turn to dust. What does arrive, must, at some point, depart.
Why then do we humans form such intense bonds with each other, knowing very well that at some point, the other person will either walk out of our life, or die?
The pain of separation being almost unbearable and one that you carry with you till all of eternity; what, then, should you do to avoid such a painful fate?
The first and the most obvious answer would be to not get attached in the first place. What never arrives, shall never depart. Logical enough. But if man were to be such an intensely logical creature, man would have ceased to exist. Instead, in place of man, would have been a robotic being. Would you, then, consider this organism to be human? I think not.
Seeing as the term "attachment" leaves no room for grey area, the only other alternative would be to allow yourself to get attached. Then again, what kind of a fool would set himself up for that kind of disappointment over and over and over again till the day he dies? And all for what? To end up in the same place where he began? Alone?
So why is it that the entire human race behaves like loons when it comes to forming bonds? Getting attached to every person that walks into your life isn't exactly the wisest thing to do. Then of course there are the cynics and skeptics who live in fear of trusting people. I can't even begin to imagine what a lonesome existence they must have.
Now, what really is better? Loving someone and losing them? Or being so scared of getting hurt, that you don't ever love anyone, or maybe love a few? Either way, you die alone. The only difference being, when you love someone, you've lived a life; and when you've gone through life without ever getting attached to anyone, you've merely existed.
Yes, it hurts when you lose a person, but I'd rather feel lonely for a little while at the time of the loss, than feel lonely all through my life.
From experience i know that every creature I've loved and lost has been worth it.
