Seriously why do they? It's a question to which men have seeked an answer for way too long. I mean if you would understand men and women, you'd realise that, women tend to over-think situations while men simply refuse to think (no offence). I mean a woman would spend hours getting ready and trying on a billion different outfits before settling on the one. Then there is the hair and the accessories and the make up. Whereas a man would simply pull out clothes from his closet, smell them (to check if they are wear-able) and if they meet the high standards of sanitation that men have, they throw them on.
So why is there this difference? The answer lies, not in this simple equation but in a much more complex story which starts from evolution. I'd thought about this once or twice and i had concluded that, since the earliest times, women were always considered second class citizens. They were always considered inferior and weren't given the same opportunities as men, or the same rights. The only women, who were given attention and were treated with "love" were the one's who were sexually appealing to men.(And this stand true even today. Men tend to be on their best behaviour around beautiful women.)
As a result of this neglection, and seeing sensual women get more attention and affection, all women aspired to be more beautiful, more charming. We all wanted bigger breasts and fuller lips and smaller waists and tighter asses and longer legs. Obviously, it's not possible for everyone to have these traits. So women resorted to artificial things, like make up. As a result, now, women spend so much time, getting ready, trying to look their best. Subconsciously hoping to meet the man's approval. While men, always being the More dominant sex, didn't really bother. They'd get laid, one way or another.
But then again, why do women not have this " i-just-want-to-hump-and-dump" approach towards relationships. This too is a question that is asked often, by men, again. I always thought it was firstly because of the different hormones that we possessed which attached us to things. and secondly, because of the social norms among which we had lived all our lives. Which said that a promiscuous man is just powerful but a women who had more than a single sexual partner is a slut.
But, just yesterday, i was flipping through channels and saw this thing on the discovery channel. The science of sex appeal. Psychologists and neurologists were pondering over the reason as to why only 3% of mammals actually have one sexual partner and tends to stay with the same partner for their entire lives, mostly. What was the difference between us, and our monkey siblings? The answer, they found, lied in the most obvious of things. Something you and i noticed. This thing was so obvious, that no one ever thought it would be the answer. The difference? We walk on two feet and monkeys tend to walk on four.
Turns out, that while monkey-women hadn't quite turned into homo-sapiens yet, they walked on four legs. They carried their babies on their backs. However, when they evolved and started walking on two feet, it was hard for them to carry a 20 pound child and food (fruits and berries) AND protect themselves from predators. At this point, somehow, after a long evolving process, the female brain, the most primitive part of it, started releasing a hormone which made us more appealing to the male sex. It made women more feminine which appealed to the men because of their primitive instincts. The female body produced these hormones to attract the men, that way, their male counterparts would protect them and their off springs.
Now if we connect these two theories together, we see that a woman's basic instinct also encourages her to look feminine and appealing, in order to have a man by her side. To protect her, and pay her bills!
The episode also had some interesting things about how women are attracted towards masculine men because their basic instinct tells them that a man's masculinity is a direct result of the amount of testosterone his body was producing at the time of puberty, which implies that, a man's masculinity shows his reproductive health. And it showed how women, even married women, are attracted towards other men during their ovulation period because, yet again, their instincts tell them that "this man would give me a nice, healthy child". Fascinating eh?

ReplyDeleteMany do. Don't be stereotypical, sull.
Okay firstly, please don't write my name or any other verisons of my name. :)
ReplyDeleteand secondly, incase you haven't noticed, the ratio of women like that, as compared to men with that kind of thinking, is very low. And i personally don't know anyone (besides Doggy)who thinks that way.
I don't know who Doggy is, but what you don't know is that girls are as horny as boys, maybe just not at 14.
ReplyDeleteSull is very similar to syl so I don't think it should bother you.
I am a girl. I know women are horny. It's called hormones. BUT women aren't so open about their sexuality as opposed to men. That is my point.
ReplyDeleteSweets, you are only 14. Try saying the same when you're 19.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are a man. Try becoming a woman and then saying that, okay sweet pea?
